Season: Summer/Fall

Land Status: GPNF, Mt. Adams Ranger District

Trailhead: From Hood River, go across the Columbia River and then head west on hwy. 14. Just after passing over the Wind River and before you reach Stevenson, head north on forest road 30. Stay on forest road 30 through Carson and on to Old Man Pass and the Upper Wind River Sno-park on the left at the summit. (1 hour)

Highlights: This is the perfect area for mountain biking: easier grades, scenery and very few users. Currently the tread on some of the trails (which are x/c skiing trails in the winter) is not well defined but this should get better the more the trails are used. To avoid weekend crowds on some of the more popular trails try this area out.

Note: The several gravel roads in this area also make for a nice, easier riding experience.
